The 1961 TR6 650 “Cockfighter”

The 1961 TR6 650 “Cockfighter”

The “Cockfighter” goes to Pomona.
Little did I know 31 days ago, a journey of not only my mind, but a spirit of steel and rubber would save my life. The 61 TR6 waited for his master to change it into a beast of pleasure and not of burden. It has become the future of man and machine. A boy and his toy. The pursuit of speed. The only truth………..

Mopar people are a Breed of there Own…..Growing up in an Chrysler family the “B” Body station wagon was an main stay in our household. Truely I was conceived in the back of one of these “Battle Wagons” and I cringe at the thought of Mom and Dad doing the dirty in all 8 feet of the “Love Box”. Leave it up to our Brothers from the North to build the ”Canadian” version of the AFX Super Stock that never was. And of course those are HURST 30”x10’s sitting in the back.

HURST customer Mark from Melbourne Australia, running HURST 30”x10”x16“‘s

Customer Bill Lazaris and his 1958 Chassis Research TE440 Dragster

In Bills own words………….We finally finished redoing our dragster “The Antique Doll”, but 52 years ago on this day Mickey Brown (the first man to go over 150mph on gas) got killed in our car at Lions Drag Strip when it was originally the Scrima-Adams-Smith dragster.

Customer Steve Truver of Hoffman Estates Ill , sent in a video of his 1962 Pontiac Safari running down the 1320. This was the cars first time out ever. Ran a best of 12.94 @ 102 MPH.

Traction by HURST!!!

This year Ray Gordon and Myself spent a few days searching for the Salt Bug and we found it in Wendover Utah. Here is a record of the experience thru the eyes of a couple Salt Virgins. Boneville Salt Flats is the closest to racing on the moon man will ever get.

The best part of any car show is either coming or going!!!!

Saturday in the “Park Blocks” has been a summer long event to celebrate the Portland Art Museum’s Automotive exzibit “The Allure of the Automobile”. With the High Fidelity cranking out Michael Bolton and such , I knew I was an outsider in an otherwise ordinary atmosphere. Michelangelo may have sculpted amazing works of art as “David” but the jewells were too small to have been a Hot Rod’rs

This car should not need any introduction……………..Built by Marky Idzardi and Brother Axle , this car effected me in the same way , the first Playboy effected my brain. Looking at this car made me sell my 1966 Plymouth and buy a Model A , and never look back. Somthing to be said about a hand built , purpose built Hot Rod. Never mind the nay sayers this car is its own beat , Not built for comfort , not built for speed , just built beacause it wanted to live. And live it does! Such a full circle that 10 years later it wears our tires “HURST 30”x10”x15” Double Pinner White’s” . Don’t build your car for anyone but youself!!!!

This Friday morning let me take a second to introduce you to the “Father’s” of HURST RACING TIRES. On your left is Ron Hurst, to the right is “Big Papa” Steve Adams.
